us是美國的國家頂級域名，目前由NeuStar進行管理。由于互聯(lián)網(wǎng)發(fā)源于美國，所以美國企業(yè)一般直接使用最早的國際域名系統(tǒng)下的.com、.net等類別域名。直到進入21世紀后，由于上網(wǎng)企業(yè)的大量增加，導(dǎo)致類別域名數(shù)目迅速膨脹不堪重負，加之處于安全方面的考慮，才開通了.us域名系統(tǒng)。

us域名注冊優(yōu)勢

優(yōu)勢:國內(nèi)一些域名投資者注冊大量.us域名并不在于看中了us的國別意義,而是把它看成us(“我們”)的含義,他們認為這才是.us的對于大眾的真正意義。在中國有超過33,000家的美資企業(yè)以及100,000家的中美合資企業(yè)。而在整個亞洲,這個數(shù)字還將多出5倍有余，有人相信.us域名在亞洲將會有巨大的需求。

us域名注冊風(fēng)險

從us域名注冊條款來看，嚴格來說，內(nèi)地一般公民不符合它們的注冊要求，具體見下面的US的注冊條款，內(nèi)地的公民只能夠勉強靠上邊的，但如果你被抽查到，或做得太大被舉報（.us不能Whois隱藏)，要求你出示相關(guān)證明，無法提供證明的話，域名就會被刪除。這就是us域名的風(fēng)險所在。

Overview

The .US top-level domain (usTLD) was established in 1985 as the official country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for the United States. It is administered by NeuStar. The expanded second-level .US domain launched on April 24, 2002, enabling companies, nonprofits, government entities and individuals to establish unique, memorable American addresses online.

Structure

The existing .US structure is a locality-based hierarchy modeled on the geography of the United States. Most usTLD branches in the locality space are overseen by delegated managers (also known as "delegees" or "locality delegees"). This existing hierarchical design provides structure, name uniqueness and a geographic reference point for registrants. NeuStar maintains and enhances this locality-based structure even as it administers the expanded second-level .US domain.

下面的注冊條款來自.us的域名管理公司NeuStar, Inc.，注冊條件叫做：Nexus Requirement，在每一個.us域名的Whois中，都能看到類似的這兩個狀態(tài)：

　　P3表示個人使用，其他使用目的還有商業(yè)活動P1、教育機構(gòu)P4、ZF部門 P5、非盈利性組織P2等

　　Nexus Category 1

　　A natural person 個人注冊

　　(i) who is a United States citizen, C11 美國公民

　　(ii) who is a permanent resident of the United States of America or any of its possessions or territories, or C12 擁有美國永久居留權(quán)

　　(iii) whose primary place of domicile is in the United States of America or any of its possessions. C13 在美國擁有房產(chǎn)

　　Nexus Category 2

　　A United States entity or organization that is 實業(yè)公司或組織注冊

　　(i) incorporated within one of the fifty (50) U.S.

　　states, the District of Columbia, or any of the United States possessions or territories, or C21 在美國注冊的公司

　　簡單來說：可以在美國境外注冊.us，但有風(fēng)險。而且該域名的管理公司規(guī)定.us不能使用隱私注冊。

從上面的條款來看，嚴格來說，內(nèi)地一般公民不符合以上任何一個類別的要求。勉強能靠上邊的，只有C32。但如果你被抽查到，或做得太大被舉報(.us不能Whois隱藏)，要求你出示相關(guān)證明，無法提供證明的話，域名就會被刪除。這就是us域名的風(fēng)險所在。

所以想注冊.us的話，玩玩或做垃圾站還是不錯的，NeuStar查得并不嚴，可能很長時間你的域名都沒事;但真正要做網(wǎng)站，或者想網(wǎng)站做大，這個風(fēng)險就不得不考慮了。

與一般的國別域名不同，.us域名系統(tǒng)目前只提供***.us一種域名，而不象一般的國別域名那樣還提供.com.us或.co.us、.net.us一類的類別域名。

做為互聯(lián)網(wǎng)的誕生地，全球互聯(lián)網(wǎng)的旗艦級別的企業(yè)大都誕生發(fā)展于美國。作為互聯(lián)網(wǎng)身份證的域名也多采用頂級類別域名。.us域名發(fā)布較晚，所以很少有著名企業(yè)使用；
